A New Morning Edition

National Public Radio (NPR) ran an interview on last Friday’s Morning Edition show. Lynn Neary interviewed me, my husband Gary, my agent Rebecca Oliver, bookseller Hilary Emerson Lay, and my editor Laurie Chittenden. It’s a brisk six minute piece that gives some of the behind the scenes details of getting “The Lace Reader” published which was quite an adventure.

    Dear Sandy,

You’re amazing! It takes talent, imagination and determination to write a novel like “Lace Reader.”
Unfortunately, they don’t quote the book in full, so I (obviously) ordered a copy and it is on it’s way, can’t wait to read it.

Please accept congratulations and my warmest wishes!

And the Diane Rehm piece is fantastic, too!

    Dear Ms. Barry,
I want to thank you in advance, for writing such a wonderful, mysterious, and intriguing story. I think, at, last, as I’ve only had my library card in a new town, for only a year, I’ve finally found something good to read.
Lately, there seems to be a trend brewing. Your book, snd Stephenie Meyer’s Breaking Dawn, which Both touch on dark subjects.
I have always felt that the best stories, are written by authors that paint a picture, but they don’t tell you everything, even at page 100.
The first movie that I had ever seen about witchcraft, was a black and white gothic film called Burn, Witch, Burn.
It suggests witchcraft, but, you’ve got to pay attention to discover what you’re supposed to.
Thank you again Ms. Barry. I’m going to read it again, before I return it to the library.
